Framer Localization Pricing 2026: Real Cost per Locale

Framer charges $20 per locale per month on top of the site plan. Real cost for 1 to 10 languages, AI credits, and cheaper alternatives.

Updated · 6 min read

Framer Localization costs $20 per locale per month on yearly billing ($25 on monthly billing, according to Awesomic), on top of the site plan: $10 a month on Basic or $30 on Pro, with up to 20 locales (Framer). AI translations also use your plan's AI credits (Framer Help). A Pro site with five extra languages comes to about $130 a month.

If you have searched for "Framer localization pricing", you have probably already seen the number that makes people hesitate: $20 per locale, per month. It sounds reasonable for one language. It stops sounding reasonable the moment your market needs four.

This guide breaks down what Framer Localization actually costs, why the bill grows faster than people expect, and what your alternatives are if you want the same SEO without paying per locale.

How Framer Localization is priced

As of September 2026, Framer's pricing page lists:

  • Site plans: Basic at $10/month, Pro at $30/month, Enterprise on request.
  • Localization add-on: $20 per locale per month, up to 20 locales on Basic and Pro.
  • Free plan: one free locale to try the feature.

A locale is each extra language. Your original language is free; every additional one is $20.

Monthly or yearly billing: which price to check

Framer says all prices are monthly and billed according to the billing cycle selected at checkout (Framer). A third-party source reports that a locale costs $20 a month on yearly billing and $25 on monthly billing (Awesomic). The tables in this guide use the $20 figure, so confirm the price at checkout before you decide.

The real monthly cost, 1 to 10 languages

Extra languagesLocalization add-onTotal on Basic ($10)Total on Pro ($30)
1$20$30$50
2$40$50$70
3$60$70$90
5$100$110$130
10$200$210$230

Over a year, a Pro site in five languages spends $1,560, and $1,200 of that is only for the languages.

Why the bill grows faster than you plan

  1. It is linear. There is no volume discount: the tenth locale costs exactly the same as the first.
  2. Languages you "might need" never get launched. Teams start with two locales and stop there, even when analytics shows visitors from five countries.
  3. It is locked to Framer. The translations live inside your Framer project, so the money does not carry over if you ever move to another builder.

None of this makes Framer Localization bad. It is well integrated and the technical SEO (hreflang, lang attributes, per-locale paths) is handled for you. It is simply priced for teams that need one or two languages.

Costs that are not in the per-locale price

On top of the $20 per locale, a few other items belong in the budget:

  • AI credits. AI Translation is an AI feature, so each AI translation consumes credits from your plan. Adding locales and entering translations yourself never uses credits (Framer Help).
  • How many credits you get. Basic includes from 1,000 AI credits a month and Pro from 3,000, with higher tiers available (Framer). Credits stack across projects: a workspace with two Basic projects receives 2,000 credits a month (Framer Help).
  • What happens when they run out. Credit-using features pause when the workspace reaches its limit, and AI translations are one of them, until credits reset or you buy more (Framer Help).
  • Editors. Additional editors cost $20 a month each, and content editors, who can update the CMS and localization, $10 a month each (Framer).
  • Continuous auto-translation. With Auto Translate on, new or updated content is translated right away into every enabled locale (Framer Help), so credit use grows with every change you publish.

Cheaper ways to get the same result

What you are paying for with Framer Localization is really two things: translation and per-language URLs that Google can index. You can get both elsewhere.

A translation proxy

A proxy serves your existing Framer pages translated from their own URL (/fr/, /de/) with hreflang and a per-language sitemap. To Google it is the same as native localization. You set it up once by creating a DNS record.

Lantis

Lantis translates websites with AI (Gemini by default; the team can switch a site to Claude, DeepL or DeepSeek on request) and serves each language from its own URL, with hreflang and per-language sitemaps generated for you. On Framer you install it with its plugin or by pasting one line of code, without touching your design. Per-language URLs need one DNS record on your domain.

  • $3.50/month for one language, $3 per language from two to nine, $2.50 per language from ten. See current prices on the Lantis pricing page.
  • 500,000 words per language included and more than 60 languages available. You pay only for active languages, with no limit on sites or visits.
  • Free plan: one language and up to 100 translated texts, no card needed.
  • No commitment, and a full refund within 14 days of each payment (refund policy).
  • Works on any Framer plan, including Basic, and on any other platform. For a direct comparison with another Framer option, see Lantis vs Verbi.

The trade-off: translations live in Lantis rather than inside your Framer project, so you edit them in the Lantis dashboard instead of the Framer canvas.

When Framer Localization is still the right choice

  • You need exactly one extra language and like having everything inside the editor.
  • You want to write each locale by hand, layer by layer, with no automation at all.
  • Your company requires every tool to be first-party.
